In short
- Your projects, code, chats and settings stay on your PC. Tazqen never uploads them to us.
- Tazqen has no analytics, tracking or crash reporting. This website sets no cookies.
- We keep only what an account and a subscription need: your email, a username and your subscription.
- We don't sell your data, and we show no ads.
Who is responsible
Tazqen's developer, an independent developer in Slovenia, a private person rather than a company, is responsible for the personal data described here. Write to support@tazqen.com about anything on this page.
Polar (Polar Software, Inc.) sells Tazqen as merchant of record and handles your payment under its own privacy policy.
This website
tazqen.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking pixels or forms. Its fonts and pictures come from this site, not from other companies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and to protect the site from attacks.
Mail you send to support@tazqen.com is forwarded by Cloudflare to our mailbox at Google. We keep it as long as we need to answer you and to keep a record of what we agreed.
Your Tazqen account
Your account lives in Google Firebase Authentication: your email address, the username you choose, a hash of your password (never the password itself), your account ID, and when the account was made and last signed in. We use it to sign you in and to link your subscription to you. It stays until you delete the account.
On your PC, Tazqen keeps your sign-in in Windows Credential Manager, so you stay signed in.
Your subscription
Tazqen's payment service (payments.tazqen.com, run on Cloudflare) passes your account ID and email to Polar when you subscribe, when Tazqen checks your subscription, and when you open Manage subscription. The service stores nothing itself.
Polar keeps the customer record (your email and account ID), the subscription, orders and invoices. You enter your card and billing details on Polar's page, and we never see them. Polar keeps the payment records the law requires a seller to keep.
What stays on your PC
Projects, code, terminal output, chats, settings and backups stay on your PC. Keys you enter for AI providers stay in Windows Credential Manager. Tazqen sends none of this to us. Error logs stay on your PC too; a problem report is a file you can choose to send us, with secrets removed first.
AI providers and other services you use
The agents you run in Tazqen, and Tazqen's Chat, send your prompts and code to the AI providers you choose, such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, under your own accounts with them. Their privacy policies apply, and we never see that traffic.
Tazqen also downloads what you ask it for, such as a dictation model from Hugging Face or an agent update from npm or GitHub. Those services see your IP address, as any download does.
Updates
While background updates are on, Tazqen asks downloads.tazqen.com for a newer version when it starts and every 12 hours. That request carries no account details. Cloudflare, which serves the downloads, sees your IP address.
Phone link
Only if you pair a phone with Tazqen: your PC and phone exchange messages through a mailbox in Google Firebase Realtime Database, in Europe. The messages are end-to-end encrypted, so the mailbox, and we, see only routing IDs, message sizes and times, and when each PC was last online. Deleting your account removes these records.
Who handles data for us
- Google (Firebase): accounts and the phone link mailbox; the mailbox that receives support mail.
- Cloudflare: this website, the payment service, downloads and support mail forwarding.
- Polar: payments, tax and receipts, together with the payment providers it uses.
Some of them process data outside the European Union, mainly in the United States. They protect such transfers with the safeguards EU law requires, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Why we may use your data
We use your account and subscription data to provide what you signed up for (your contract with us). We keep records the law requires (a legal obligation), and we protect our services from abuse (our legitimate interest).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, to restrict how we use it, or object to it. Tazqen does the main ones itself, under Settings → Tazqen account: Export gives you your account data as a file, and Delete account ends your subscription and deletes your account and phone link records. For anything else, write to support@tazqen.com.
You can also complain to Slovenia's Information Commissioner (ip-rs.si) or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Tazqen is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly keep their data.
Changes
We update this page and its date when something changes. For changes that matter, we also email account holders.
